*Carpet Stain Removal Tip:
If you have carpet in your home then you will at some point have spills, pet accidents, muddy shoe tracks among other things... Steam cleaning or shampooing isn't always an option, but there is another way to rid your carpets of those spills and stains. It will also remove any nasty odors. For this spot cleaning regime you will need paper towels, white vinegar, water and baking soda.
1. Mix 1 cup warm water with 2 cups white vinegar in a large bowl.
2. If the spots are fresh/still wet take some paper towels and place on top of them and put a plastic bag over it, then press down on area to help absorb. Do repeatedly until it is soaked up.
3. Add 4 tablespoons of baking soda slowly (as to not foam over) to water & vinegar mixture.
4. Pour the solution over the area and let sit for 10 minutes, then scrub whole area with scrub brush in circular motion.
5. Place paper towels & plastic bag on area as before and soak up as much as possible.
6. Sprinkle regular baking soda over the area, pat it down and allow to soak up remaining moisture (20 min.), then vacuum up.
Note: If spill is already dried or its an older stain start with pouring solution over area and then follow same steps as above without vacuuming - repeat steps over again until stain is visibly gone and then vacuum.
*Pet Hair Removal Tip:
We all love our fur babies... but we don't love the hair they leave behind.
A very simple way to clean hair off of your furniture is to put on a pair of rubber gloves and spray them lightly with water. You don't want them soaking wet, just damp. Wipe your hand in one direction across your sofa, chair. etc. This will cause the hair to stick to the gloves and roll up allowing you to collect it to be thrown away. You can then go over everything with a furniture attachment on your vacuum. This will ensure that you get all of the hair. It's a simple and quick way to get rid of any pet hair and you can do it in-between your regular cleanings 🐰🧹🪣🫧
*Shower Curtain Liner Cleaning Tip:
If you happen to use a shower curtain you probably also use a shower curtain LINER... and they can get really gross with scum & mold if not cleaned on a regular basis. The cause of that nasty orange, yellow or brown stuff hanging out on your shower liner is usually a combination of soap scum, bacteria and minerals in the water. There are some simple ways to keep it at bay and to help keep your showering experience from grossing you out. Here's one...
1. Take down your shower liner
2. Place liner in washer with an old towel
3. Add your laundry soap as usual, then add 1 cup of baking soda inside the washer tub with liner, and put 1/2 cup white vinegar into the fabric softner compartment of washer and run wash cycle - (Hot water setting)
4. Remove liner from washer when done and lightly shake out
5. Hang liner back up on shower curtain rod and spread all the way out so it can fully dry.
You'll want to repeat this once per month or at least every 6weeks to ensure your liner stays clean.
